Ready-made garment workers have blocked the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Savar demanding arrears of wages.<\/p>\n
The workers, who have been blocking the highway since 7 pm, have been demanding arrears of wages. Long-distance commuters have been facing indescribable suffering due to the three-hour blockade.<\/p>\n
Officer-in-charge of Savar Highway Police Station, Saugatul Alam, confirmed the matter.<\/p>\n
He said that the workers of the local Protik Garments came down to the highway demanding arrears of wages, and the traffic was stopped.<\/p>\n
Upon receiving the information, the police and members of the law enforcement agencies, including the army, tried to convince the workers to leave the road, but they did not respond.<\/p>\n
Officer-in-charge of Savar Model Police Station, Jewel Mia, said that considering the suffering of the people, the workers have been requested to leave the highway.
