The government is investigating the role of the District Administrators (DCs) who served during the elections. In particular, action has been taken against the District Administrators (DCs) who served in the elections on January 5, 2014 and December 30, 2018. And the role of the DCs who served in the elections on January 7, 2024 is being investigated. It is also being verified through intelligence agencies. Action will be taken against those who committed corruption. However, action will not be taken against everyone indiscriminately.<\/p>\n
Regarding action against the DCs or other officials who served in the controversial elections, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Mokhles Ur Rahman, said yesterday that some of those against whom action has been taken have been sent to OSD, some to compulsory retirement. Another point is that if various organizations and their own systems find that the incident really happened, only those allegations will be sent to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). This will not be generalized. Those who have propaganda in their name or are not involved in crimes or have done nothing of the kind, temporarily becoming OSDs, will live a very normal life, there is no problem with that. There is no government bias here. The government will work very consciously so that no innocent officer is disrespected.\u2019<\/p>\n
In response to journalists\u2019 questions about the former DCs who were in charge of the returning officers in the 2024 elections, Senior Secretary Mukhles Ur Rahman said, \u2018The entire list in this regard has been sent to the intelligence agencies. They will be considered after they arrive. There is a committee in this regard consisting of four advisors. That committee will analyze them and it will be done slowly. No decision will be made based on bias or anything. All decisions will be made through rules and regulations. It will be seen that not a single officer is affected.\u2019<\/p>\n
Many state agencies and institutions play a role in completing an election process. The responsibility of the DCs, i.e. the returning officers, is very high. It is their job to announce the election results and take action in case of irregularities. The DCs who were in charge of the 2018 elections, which were initially known as night voting, are not being given any exemption. A large part of them have been made Officers on Special Duty (OSD). Considering the completion of the service period of 25 years, 22 DCs who served in 2014 were sent on compulsory retirement on Thursday. It is said that the current interim government is investigating the role of all the officials who served in the three controversial elections.<\/p>\n
There have been allegations of vote rigging in the last three elections. Although the defeated candidates and parties have made these allegations, the then Election Commission and the ruling government have always denied it. However, there are allegations of widespread rigging in the elections under state sponsorship. In many cases, there are also allegations of financial transactions.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Additional Secretary (APD Division) of the Ministry of Public Administration Md. Obaidur Rahman has been appointed as the new Industries Secretary. Apart from this, 9 more people will be appointed to the vacant posts of secretaries in the ministries and departments in a couple of days.<\/p>\n
Yesterday, the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration said that 12 people have been selected for the post of secretary in the meeting of the four Superior Selection Boards.
