An earthquake shook the Indian capital New Delhi at 7 am. The magnitude of the earthquake that struck at 5:36 am on Monday was 4.2.<\/p>\n
At that time, residents came out of their homes in panic and took to the streets.<\/p>\n
It is known that the epicenter of the earthquake was in Dhaula Kuan in Delhi. Which was five kilometers below the surface. There were no immediate reports of casualties in this earthquake that lasted a few seconds.<\/p>\n
Locals claim that a loud noise was heard along with the earthquake. They also said that such an earthquake has not been felt in Delhi in the last 25 years.<\/p>\n
Apart from Delhi, the earthquake was felt in various places including Agra and Haryana in India. Earlier, tremors were felt in Delhi on January 11 and January 23.<\/p>\n
The country’s National Center for Seismology said that the earthquake was felt across North India, with its epicenter in Delhi. The depth of the earthquake was 5 kilometers.<\/p>\n
An official told news agency PTI that the epicentre of the earthquake was near Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in Dhaula Kuan. There is a lake near the area, where low-magnitude earthquakes are felt once every 2-3 years.<\/p>\n
Following the incident, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the residents of Delhi and surrounding areas to remain calm and follow safety precautions.<\/p>\n
