Five vehicles collided head-on on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Munshiganj’s Kamarkhola due to dense fog. At least 20 people were injured.<\/p>\n
The accident occurred at around 7:45 am on Monday. This caused severe traffic congestion on the expressway.<\/p>\n
Police said that first a large covered van hit the back of a pickup truck. Then a passenger bus of Imat Paribahan hit the covered van, causing the vehicles to slow down. A short distance away, a truck hit another bus of Purbava Paribahan, causing five vehicles to collide in an instant. This disrupted traffic on the Dhaka-bound lane and caused a long traffic jam.<\/p>\n
Munshiganj Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Shafiqul Islam said that the Fire Service ambulances rescued the injured in batches and sent them to the hospital.<\/p>\n
Confirming the incident, Hasara Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Quader Jilani said that the truck fled after the accident. However, work is underway to rescue the remaining four vehicles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
