The recent directive issued by BRTA regarding four-stroke three-wheelers has been cancelled. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has called on three-wheeler drivers to withdraw their ongoing blockade, saying the directive has been cancelled today, Sunday.<\/p>\n
In a message sent by DMP DC (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman this morning, it was said that the recent directive issued by BRTA regarding four-stroke three-wheelers has been cancelled. All concerned have been informed about the matter and the Dhaka Metropolitan Police has requested them not to create any hindrance in the movement of vehicles by withdrawing the blockade.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) had ordered strict action against gas or petrol-powered auto-rickshaw drivers who charge more than the fixed fare on the meter. It was informed that if evidence of charging excessive fare is found under this directive, the driver may be fined up to 50,000 taka or imprisoned for 6 months, or both.<\/p>\n
A letter regarding this directive signed by BRTA Director (Engineering) Shitangshu Shekhar Biswas on February 10 has also been sent to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner.<\/p>\n
In protest against such a decision and the immediate implementation of the daily deposit of 900 taka for CNG autorickshaws of Dhaka Metro set by BRTA, CNG autorickshaw drivers took to the road, making 9 demands.<\/p>\n
It is worth noting that CNG drivers have been blocking various roads in the capital since this morning in protest of the fine or imprisonment if they charge more than the prescribed fare of the meter.<\/p>\n
CNG drivers protested by blocking the road in front of BRTA No. 13 in Mirpur in the capital. As a result, traffic on that road is closed. Hundreds of people have been suffering.<\/p>\n
