The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee are going to launch a new centrist political party by the end of this month, combining the right and left. The name and symbol of this new party will be finalized based on the important forces of the July mass uprising and the public opinion survey. The public opinion survey was launched at Dhaka University on Wednesday. However, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee will finalize who will be in the top positions of the party.<\/p>\n
When asked, Ariful Islam Adib, joint convener of the Citizens Committee, told our time, we want to launch a new political party by the end of this month. Before that, our target is to form at least 400 police station committees.<\/p>\n
According to relevant sources, the National Citizens Committee started its journey to rebuild the country last September. They formed their first committee on November 8 last year. On the other hand, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement started forming its first committee on November 2. The work of forming the committee is going as expected, the responsible leaders said.<\/p>\n
When asked who could take the top position of the new party, Ariful Islam Adib said, “Those who were at the forefront of the July mass uprising, including the National Citizens Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, will decide. In that case, many names are in discussion. Many also have expectations.<\/p>\n
Multiple sources in the National Citizens Committee say that according to initial discussions, Nahid Islam, among the three advisors who are student representatives in the interim government, may resign and take charge of the new party. Although this is not final yet. It can be confirmed that the new political party will include National Citizens Committee convener Nasiruddin Patwary, member secretary Akhtar Hossain, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Hasnat Abdullah, central coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and main organizer of the National Citizens Committee Sarjis Alam. Ali Ahsan Jonayed of the National Citizens Committee and many others are in discussion.<\/p>\n
The leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee said that the fascist Sheikh Hasina was forced to flee the country to India in the face of the student-public uprising. The students at the forefront of the revolution have decided to finalize the goals, objectives and name of the new party based on the opinions of those whose sacrifices freed the country from fascism.<\/p>\n
It was announced at a press conference on February 5 that the members of the National Citizens Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement will collect opinions in each district. Forms for the public opinion survey have been provided in the districts. This public opinion survey will be conducted online as well as offline. The results will be announced once the survey is completed. As part of this, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee are conducting a public opinion survey to find out the aspirations of the new party, its symbol, people’s expectations and three proposals for changing the country.<\/p>\n
Recently, Akhtar Hossain told the media that their new party will play politics as a centrist party, giving importance to issues related to national interests outside the right and left trends. They want to bring people who were in favor of the mass uprising, but are not associated with any party politics, into the new party.<\/p>\n
In this situation, the ‘New Bangladesh in Your Eyes’ campaign has started from yesterday to collect public opinion and opinions of Dhaka University students with the aim of forming a new political party under the leadership of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee. The leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have been running this campaign in 6 booths of Dhaka University since the morning.<\/p>\n
It is learned that the survey asks about the name and symbol of the new political party and what the mandate and programs of the new party will be. Apart from this, the survey also asks for 3 suggestions for changing the country. After this, the anti-discrimination leaders will conduct this survey across the country. Once the survey is completed, the leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee will launch a new political party based on the opinions of the students.<\/p>\n
The leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have set up booths under the university’s Arts Building and in front of the Central Library. Students are coming there and giving various written suggestions for forming a new political party. The centers where booths have been set up at Dhaka University are – Curzon Hall premises, Central Library, TSC premises, Battala, Science Library premises, Hall Para.<\/p>\n
