BNP is confident for the 13th national parliament elections by December this year. The party is also quite excited internally. Two members of the BNP’s national standing committee said that the main task of the interim government is to organize national elections. The government and the people also want that. However, there is also a conspiracy to sabotage it. BNP will remain on the streets until the roadmap is announced to counter this conspiracy.<\/p>\n
A three-member high-level delegation of the party, led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, met with Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and important advisors of his government at the state guest house Jamuna on Monday. After the meeting, Mirza Fakhrul told the journalists present that interim government head Dr. Muhammad Yunus has assured them that he will quickly give a roadmap for the elections to be held by December this year. The government may give the roadmap by February 15.<\/p>\n
The day before, a three-member BNP delegation led by BNP National Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan met with the Chief Election Commissioner and other commissioners at the Election Commission building on Sunday. Coming out of there, Nazrul Islam Khan said that the Election Commission will be fully prepared for the national elections by May-June.<\/p>\n
After the meeting with the government and the Election Commission, a meeting of the BNP Standing Committee was held at the Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan on Monday night. The meeting was virtually presided over by the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman. According to sources in the meeting, there was a detailed discussion on the statements made by the Chief Advisor and Chief Election Commissioner on the issue of the 13th National Parliament elections. The party’s policymakers are particularly excited about the chief advisor’s speech. However, they also believe that obstacles may still arise. Because there is a kind of pressure on the government to delay the elections. Therefore, BNP wants a specific roadmap as soon as possible to be completely sure. According to the decision of the BNP Standing Committee, the party is taking to the field with a political program from Wednesday after the mass uprising on August 5. The party will hold meetings and rallies in 67 organizational districts of the country, including Dhaka, until February 25 on various public demands, including keeping the prices of daily necessities tolerable, improving the law and order situation, announcing the election roadmap, and confronting various conspiracies of fascists. Although four goals have been set in this program, BNP wants to highlight the demand for the next national parliament election as the ‘main focus’. On the first day, rallies will be held in six districts today. On this day, the party’s national standing committee member Gayesh Chandra Roy will speak in Lalmonirhat, Nazrul Islam Khan in Sirajganj, Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed in Khulna, Vice Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu in Brahmanbaria, Chairperson’s advisor Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal in Patuakhali, and Ariful Haque Chowdhury in Sunamganj as the chief guest.<\/p>\n
Standing committee meeting sources said that BNP believes that Jamaat-e-Islami, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, and the National Citizens Committee want to delay the elections. Among them, the leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee are in the process of forming a new political party. If the new party is formed, they need a lot of time to organize and consolidate their organizations across the country.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, in the changed situation, Jamaat is also now emphasizing on organizing its grassroots organization.
