US President Donald Trump has reiterated his surprise plan to take control of the Palestinian blockaded Gaza. Trump told reporters on Air Force One on Sunday local time en route to New Orleans.<\/p>\n
Al Jazeera reported this information in a report.<\/p>\n
The US president said, \u2018The United States is committed to buying the Gaza Strip and taking ownership of it.\u2019<\/p>\n
Stating that Gaza should be considered a major real estate site, Trump said, \u2018Other countries in the Middle East could also be given the responsibility to rebuild it.\u2019<\/p>\n
Trump said, \u2018We can also give other countries in the Middle East the responsibility to rebuild some of it. Others can do it under our auspices.\u2019<\/p>\n
He said, \u2018We are committed to ensuring ownership of it until Hamas is destroyed. Although there is nothing here to bring Hamas back. The place has become a ruin.\u2019<\/p>\n
Trump claimed that displaced Palestinians would not want to return to Gaza after implementing his proposal, despite strong reactions from the Palestinian Authority and the international community.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf we can give them a safe place to live, they will not talk about returning to Gaza,\u201d he said. \u201cThey want to return to Gaza because they have no choice. When they have a choice, they will not want to return to Gaza.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Hamas, the ruling party in Gaza, called Trump\u2019s latest proposal \u201cabsurd.\u201d \u201cGaza is not a property that can be bought and sold and it is an integral part of our Palestinian land,\u201d Izzat al-Rishek, a member of the organization\u2019s political bureau, said in a statement shared on Telegram.<\/p>\n
\u201cTackling the Palestinian issue with the mentality of a real estate businessman is a recipe for failure,\u201d he said. The Palestinian people will thwart their plans for displacement and exile.\u2019<\/p>\n
