One person was killed and at least 20 others were injured in a four-way collision involving four vehicles in dense fog in Gopalganj. The accident occurred at the Ghoshgati bus stand in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila on the Dhaka-Khulna highway early Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
Police and Fire Service said that a passenger bus of Tungipara Express leaving Khulna in the morning reached the Ghoshgati area of \u200b\u200bthe Dhaka-Khulna highway in Sadar Upazila and collided head-on with a truck. At that time, the two vehicles collided with a Gopalganj-bound covered van leaving Dhaka. In addition, another Dhaka-bound truck leaving Gopalganj collided with the three vehicles. This resulted in the casualties.<\/p>\n
On receiving information, the Fire Service went to the spot and rescued the casualties and sent them to the 250-bed General Hospital in Gopalganj. Later, Bhatiapara Highway Police Station arrived at the spot.<\/p>\n
The Fire Service said that traffic on the Dhaka-Khulna highway was closed for about three hours after the four-way collision, but vehicles are now plying on one side of the road. Several vehicles are stranded on both sides of the road.<\/p>\n
Rescue work is underway to remove the vehicles involved in the accident. Fire Service workers said that it will take a long time to remove the four wrecked cars from the road.<\/p>\n
However, the law enforcement agencies could not confirm the names and identities of the dead and injured till the time of writing this report.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
