UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said that Trump’s plan to relocate Palestinians from war-torn Gaza and develop the territory economically amounts to ethnic cleansing.<\/p>\n
He was responding to a question from New York Times reporter Farnaz Fasihi about US President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza.<\/p>\n
The New York Times reporter said that Guterres also said that “Trump’s plan risks making the possibility of a Palestinian state impossible forever.”<\/p>\n
The UN Secretary-General made the comments in response to the New York Times’ announcement that Trump would take control of the Gaza Strip at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.<\/p>\n
Earlier, US President Trump said that the United States would “occupy” Gaza and reorganize it under its own control. He said, “This valley, which has become a pile of rubble, will be rebuilt and massive economic development will be achieved, which will create a large number of jobs and housing.”<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Middle Eastern countries have also reacted strongly to Trump’s comments.<\/p>\n
