Saudi Arabia has arrested more than 21,000 expatriates on charges of violating housing, labor and border security laws. Of these, 10,000 have also been deported to their home countries, according to a report by Middle East-based media outlet Gulf News on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The Saudi Interior Ministry said in a statement that more than 21,000 expatriates have been arrested in raids across Saudi Arabia in the past week. Among them, about 14,000 are for violating housing laws, 4,600 for violating border security laws, and more than 3,000 for violating labor laws. The country’s various security forces and government agencies have arrested these expatriates in joint raids.<\/p>\n
In addition, more than 27,000 expatriates have been sent to their respective diplomatic missions to collect necessary travel documents before being deported. An order has been issued to finalize arrangements for the repatriation of another 2,300 people from Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n
The ministry said in a statement that 1,477 people were arrested while trying to illegally cross the border into Saudi Arabia. The majority of them were Yemeni and Ethiopian citizens. Of those arrested, 41 percent were Yemeni, 55 percent Ethiopian, and four percent were citizens of other countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
