The Law Ministry has identified 2,500 political harassment or disappearance cases in at least 25 districts across the country. Lakhs of people have been accused in these cases. All the cases will be withdrawn by next February.<\/p>\n
This information was given by Law Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul at a press conference organized by the Law Ministry on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The Law Advisor said, \u20182,500 political harassment or disappearance cases have been identified in 25 districts of the country. Lakhs of people are accused in these cases. These cases will be withdrawn by next February.\u2019<\/p>\n
He also said, \u2018To identify disappearance cases, we have divided them into four categories. Whether the cases were filed by the police or not has been taken into account. Secondly, the trend of most of these cases was cases under the Explosives Act, cases under the Arms Act, and cases of attacks on the police. The third trend is that there are many accused in these cases, that is, there are unknown accused. The latest trend that has been taken into account is the cases filed before and after any major rally of the opposition parties and before and after the last three fake elections. Taking these trends into account, we have identified 2,500 cases. We hope that these cases will be withdrawn by February.\u2019<\/p>\n
Asif Nazrul said, \u2018In identifying missing cases, several issues are being given importance. These include cases related to explosives, weapons, the Special Powers Act, obstruction of police work, etc. in which the then opposition leaders and activists have been accused and a large number of unknown accused have been made accused. The criteria for identifying those cases as missing cases are being considered. However, those in which there is reason to doubt the facts are not being taken into consideration.\u2019<\/p>\n
Announcing the withdrawal of all cases under the Cyber \u200b\u200bSecurity Act, Asif Nazrul said, \u2018Initiatives will be taken to withdraw these cases within the next 7 days. At the same time, initiatives have been taken to reform the Cyber \u200b\u200bSecurity Act.
