Pakistan PM to visit Saudi Arabia on three-day visit
Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has left for Saudi Arabia on a three-day official visit. He is accompanied by the country’s army chief and defense chief Field Marshal Asim Munir on the visit, which began on Thursday (August 6). Dawn News reported this news.
In a post on social media, the Pakistani government said that the prime minister has gone on this visit at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. They further said that during this visit, the prime minister will perform Umrah and visit the shrine of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Medina.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Tahir Andrabi announced the visit in a weekly briefing. He said that the prime minister will meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during this visit. The meeting will further strengthen Pakistan-Saudi bilateral relations and exchange views on various regional and international issues of mutual interest. He added that although the visit is taking place amid ongoing tensions in the Gulf region, it will carry important significance beyond the immediate crisis and short-term considerations.
