JASAS leader Mamunur Rashid Shipon awarded in ‘Tomar Gane Jagbe Julai’ competition
Chittagong Metropolitan JASAS member secretary and lyricist Mamunur Rashid Shipon has won special recognition in the original patriotic song competition titled ‘Tomar Gane Jagbe Julai’ organized by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
A song written by him was nominated in this competition, organized to highlight the memory of the July 2024 mass uprising, the sacrifice of the martyrs, the heroic story and the dream of a new Bangladesh.
Mamunur Rashid Shipon was presented with a cash prize of Tk 20,000, a crest and a certificate of honor at the ‘Concert for Democracy’ program held at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.
Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury, MP, was the chief guest at the program.
The special guests were State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayyam, MP and Policy and Strategy Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, Secretary to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Kaniz Maula,
Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed.
The song, written about Chhatra Dal leader Wasim, was composed by Syed Zia Uddin, Joint Convener of Chittagong Metropolitan JASAS.
The song was sung by Syed Zia Uddin, SB Sumi, Nikhilesh Barua, Didarul Alam, Maksuda Brishti and Ankita Acharya.
After receiving the award, Mamunur Rashid Shipon expressed his sincere gratitude to Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the composers, artists, co-artists and well-wishers associated with the song.
People from various social, cultural, and political circles congratulated him on this achievement and wished him continued success.
