Tehran does not want to escalate war, will not accept enemy intervention: Pezeshkian
President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Iran is firm in defending its borders, but does not want to escalate war. The AFP news agency reported this information, citing Iranian state media.
Iran’s state news agency IRNA (IRNA) quoted Pezeshkian as saying, “We must work to build a society where there is no temptation for enemy intervention, no opportunity for infiltration, and no way to divide or destroy us.”
Earlier, US President Donald Trump claimed that the United States was negotiating with Iran. However, Tehran rejected the claim. Iran said that there are no plans for talks with the United States.
As a result, Trump’s demand for talks on the one hand and Tehran’s outright denial on the other hand, have created ambiguity about the real state of diplomatic relations between the two countries. In this situation, while Pezeshkian’s statement indicates Iran’s defensive stance and non-escalation of the conflict, Tehran’s position on the possibility of talks with the United States remains unclear.
