Psychiatrist dies after falling from multi-storey building

A female psychiatrist has died after falling from a multi-storey building in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Police initially suspect the incident to be a suicide. However, an investigation is underway to find out the exact cause of the incident. The deceased doctor, Dr. Hemika Agarwal, is 40 years old. According to family members, she had been mentally broken since her divorce about 18 months ago and had been suffering from depression for a long time.
According to a report by Indian media NDTV, citing Ghaziabad police, Dr. Hemika fell from a flat on the fifth floor of the ‘Officers City-2’ residential complex in Raj Nagar Extension area on Sunday. Locals rescued her and took her to the hospital, but doctors declared her dead.
The deceased’s father, Ghaziabad psychiatrist Dr. R. Chandra, told the police that his daughter had been suffering from mental stress and depression for a long time since the divorce. The family claims that her mental health had been deteriorating since the incident.
After the incident, the police visited the spot and collected various evidence and are questioning the family members. However, there is no official information yet on whether any suicide note was recovered from the spot. Meanwhile, the police have refused to comment on the specific cause of death till the investigation is over.
