Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has commented that Awami League does not have the power to sabotage banned activities surrounding August 5. He made this comment in response to questions from journalists at the Secretariat on Monday (August 3) afternoon. The Home Minister said that there is no reason to panic over the bomb recovery incident. A group is trying to destroy communal harmony.
He also said that the miscreants left a bag in Ashulia. It was later recovered. An investigation is underway to find out if there is any link between these. However, such incidents are much less compared to the previous times. Besides, law enforcement agencies are active in curbing extremist activities in the country.
He said that the police force ensures that there are no unprotected vehicles; the entire group does not get out of the car to have tea or rest together. There is someone near the car. Besides, the government is always vigilant.
Meanwhile, regarding former IGP Benazir, the Home Minister said, “Benazir Ahmed has been granted conditional bail. I have informed the government-appointed law firm about the matter. A request has been made to take a certified copy to know what the conditions are.” He further said that the appointed law firm has been asked to file an application in the court to cancel the bail as soon as possible. We suspect that Benazir may have a passport of another country. Efforts are being made to bring her back through diplomatic channels.
