State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid has said that the news of automatic cancellation of visas of 5,000 Bangladeshis in the UAE is not correct. She said this after an urgent inter-ministerial meeting to decide the next steps in canceling the visas of Bangladeshi workers working in the UAE at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (July 30) afternoon.
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs said that so far 626 visas have been cancelled in this way. Out of these, the government has re-sent the visas of 417 people for renewal.
On the other hand, State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare Nurul Haque Noor said that a hotline will be launched to collect detailed information and provide assistance to those returning from the UAE and those whose current visas have been cancelled. He also said that State Minister Noor has requested Bangladeshis living there not to post anything on social media about any internal crisis or issues in the Middle Eastern countries.
