Prime Minister gives jobs to three disabled people
As part of the initiative to make the disabled self-reliant through employment, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman directly handed over the appointment letters to three disabled people. He handed over the appointment letters to them at the beginning of the day’s program at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday (July 30) morning.
The appointees are – Ayesha Akhter of Saghata Upazila of Gaibandha, Nila Khatun of Kamarkhand Upazila of Sirajganj and Md. Hasmat Ali of Narail Sadar Upazila. Among them, Ayesha Akhter and Nila Khatun are both physically disabled. Despite having no hands, Nila has completed her postgraduate studies by writing with her feet. She has been appointed as a teacher at the National Disability Development Foundation in Mirpur in the capital.
Similarly, Ayesha Akhter, who has no hands, has also completed her postgraduate studies by writing with her feet. While receiving the appointment letter from the Prime Minister, she accepted it verbally. She has been appointed as a class supervisor at Beam Laboratory School and College in Gaibandha.
On the other hand, blind Md. Hasmat Ali has been appointed as a union social worker under the Department of Social Services. The concerned said that the main aim of this initiative is to integrate disabled people into the mainstream of society through employment and make them self-reliant.
The appointment letter distribution ceremony was attended by Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Farzana Sharmin Putul, Social Welfare Secretary Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf, Managing Director of Bangladesh Protibandhi Unnayan Foundation Md. Tariqul Alam and Director General of the Department of Social Services Shah Mohammad Mahbub.
Meanwhile, Abdus Sattar Dulal, founder of Bangladesh Protibandhi Kalyan Samity, welcomed the initiative to provide jobs to these three disabled people. After distributing the appointment letters, he met the Prime Minister and thanked her for this initiative. He said that such initiatives will play a positive role in increasing employment and social inclusion of disabled people.
