Love on Facebook, then married a young woman from Netrokona

The virtual world of social media introduced them through Facebook. Then, to complete their love relationship, Nazmin Akter Liza (20) from Netrokona and Wang Sulin (30) from China got married in real life with the consent of both families. Basically, this Chinese young man traveled a long way to Bangladesh for love and got married according to Muslim customs. After marriage, he converted and took a new name as ‘Md. Nur Uddin’.
According to family sources, Liza is a resident of Daulatpur area of ​​​​Mohanganj Municipality and the daughter of local furniture businessman Md. Nazim Uddin. She is a second-year graduate (honors) student of Mohanganj Government College. Nazim Uddin’s home is in Bhatgaon village of Dharmapasha upazila of neighboring Sunamganj district. He has been living in a rented house in Daulatpur area of ​​​​Mohanganj Municipality for a long time.
On the other hand, Wang Sulin, a resident of Lurang City, Lubei Province, China, is a restaurant owner by profession. He and his brother run a restaurant business in China.
The incident began a couple of months ago. After meeting on Facebook, a love relationship developed between Liza and Wang Sulin. At one point, both decided to get married. When they informed their respective families, both families responded positively. Responding to the call of love, Wang Sulin came to Bangladesh from China on July 18. Liza’s family members welcomed him at Dhaka Airport and took him to Mahanganj.
Later, on July 21, Wang Sulin converted to Islam and married Liza through a lawyer. To complete the marriage, the bride’s family has organized a grand wedding ceremony in Mahanganj next Friday (July 31). Currently, a stage is being set up in front of the rented house and the bride’s father is distributing invitations to relatives. The bride’s family has taken extra precautions after several reports of fraud involving foreign brides were recently published in China.
Lisa’s father Md. Nazim Uddin said, “After talking to the boy’s parents and relatives, we went to the Chinese embassy and made all kinds of inquiries. After getting all the information correctly, we decided to get married after consulting with the relatives. We also informed our local MP Lutfuzzaman Babar about the matter. After he made sure of the inquiries, we took the boy and girl to meet him. After the wedding formalities, the son-in-law will go to China to prepare the visa and necessary documents and bring Lisa.” Meanwhile, a festive atmosphere has been created in Daulatpur, Mahanganj, centering on the arrival of the foreign son-in-law. Local people are constantly flocking to the bride’s house to catch a glimpse of the Chinese young man, take pictures with him and share them on Facebook.
Local resident Hafizur Rahman said, “I was a little worried at first after seeing the news of an international fraud ring in the newspaper. However, since the girl’s father spoke to the Chinese embassy and the boy’s family and was 100 percent sure that the marriage would take place, there is no room for doubt. We pray for the happy life of the newlyweds.”
