The United States has launched another attack on Iran after a six-day break. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has launched airstrikes on various military and strategic targets inside Iran overnight. According to a report by Press TV, the attacks began at 8pm Eastern Time on Wednesday (July 29) and were later heard in several provinces and islands in southern Iran. CENTCOM described the attack on social media as a ‘strong response’.
The targets of the attacks were various strategically important areas in southern Iran. At least three loud explosions were heard on Qeshm Island. Power lines were temporarily cut off in the area. Bandar Abbas, Kish, Abu Musa Island were attacked. Abadan in Khuzestan Province and Kazerun in Fars Province were also attacked. Bushehr Province was again targeted.
The US carried out the strike on Wednesday in response to a US-Saudi airstrike on an Iran-backed militia group in Iraq that killed at least 20 people. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a missile attack on a US base in Jordan, a day after a US-Saudi coalition airstrike on an Iran-backed militia group in Iraq killed at least 20 people.
