Three killed in truck-autorickshaw collision in Cox’s Bazar

Three people, including two sisters, were killed and injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-powered autorickshaw in the Schoolpahar area of ​​Khuniapalong union in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar. Three others were injured in the incident.
Ramu Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sukanta confirmed that the accident occurred at around 3 pm today, Monday (July 27). The two deceased sisters are Rubina Akhter and Shahina Akhter, daughters of Zafar Alam of Harinmara area of ​​Ukhia upazila. The other is a man. His identity was not immediately known.
According to family and local sources, the two sisters had gone to the Cox’s Bazar court in the morning in a family case. After the court proceedings, they were returning home in a CNG-powered autorickshaw. When they reached the Schoolpahar area of ​​Khuniapalong on the way, the autorickshaw collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
A passenger in the autorickshaw died on the spot. Later, locals rescued the injured and took them to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, where Rubina Akhter and Shahina Akhter died during treatment. It is learnt that there were a total of six people in the autorickshaw, including the driver, at the time of the accident. Eyewitness Abdul Gafur said, “I was going to coaching with my children when the accident happened in front of my eyes. One of them died on the spot. Later, locals rescued the injured and took them to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.” Ramu Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sukanta said, “Necessary legal action is being taken in this incident. The Highway Police is working to investigate the cause of the accident.”
