UP member commits suicide by consuming poisonous tablets on live stream
A Union Parishad (UP) member committed suicide by consuming poisonous tablets on social media Facebook Live in Ranishankail Upazila of Thakurgaon. The incident took place at around 12:30 am on Sunday (July 26) in Bhangbari village of Bachor Union of the upazila. The deceased Tula Roy (34) is the son of Bhavesh Chandra alias Dumasu Roy of that village. He was an elected UP member of Bhangbari ward number 1 of Bachor Union.
According to local and family sources, Tula Roy was alone in a room of his house at the time of the incident. At around 12:30 am, he suddenly went live on Facebook on his mobile phone and expressed various disappointments in his personal life. At one point, he consumed poisonous tablets during the live stream.
Upon learning of the matter, his family members quickly rescued him and took him to a local hospital. However, he died before reaching the hospital. According to the initial thoughts of the family members, he chose this path due to long-standing differences with his wife, family feud and mental depression.
In this regard, Ranishankail Police Station OC Amanullah Al Bari said, “Upon receiving the news, the police recovered the body from the scene. A case of accidental death has been filed at the police station in this incident. The real cause of death can be confirmed after the autopsy and investigation.”
