Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has hiked the price of gold in the country’s market again. This time, the organization has increased the price of a 22-carat gold bar by Tk 2,216 in one fell swoop to Tk 2,23,074 including VAT. BAJUS gave this information in a notification on Monday (July 27) morning. The new price came into effect from 10 am today.
The notification said that the price of acid gold (pure gold) has increased in the local market. As a result, considering the overall situation, the new price of gold including VAT has been fixed. According to the new price, the price of a 22-carat gold bar (11.664 grams) in the country’s market will be Tk 2,23,074 including VAT. In addition, the price of a 21-carat gold bar has been fixed at Tk 2,13,043, the price of a 18-carat gold bar at Tk 1,82,950 and the price of a traditional gold bar at Tk 1,49,474.
Bajus said that this price will be effective in all jewelry establishments until further notice. However, wages will be applicable as per the jewelry design. Since VAT is attached to the selling price of gold and silver jewelry, VAT cannot be collected separately from customers. Also, Bajus’ previous rules will remain in force for exchange and purchase of jewelry excluding fixed VAT, wages and stones. Earlier, the Bangladesh Jewelers Association last adjusted the price of gold on the morning of July 24. That day, the price of a 22-carat gold bhori was reduced by Tk 3,324 and the price of a 22-carat gold bhori including VAT was fixed at Tk 220,858. In addition, the price of 21-carat gold bhori has been fixed at Tk 210,943, 18-carat bhori at Tk 181,200 and the price of traditional gold bhori has been fixed at Tk 148,016.
