Tel Aviv protests against settler violence

Hundreds of people have demonstrated in Tel Aviv against the escalation of Israeli settler violence in the occupied West Bank and the Israeli military rule in the Palestinian territories. Israeli police have detained at least nine people during the protests. The demonstration took place on Kaplan Street in Tel Aviv on Saturday (July 26), Israeli media reported.
Police claimed that the necessary permits were not obtained for the demonstration. At one point, protesters disrupted public order and blocked roads, leading to a crackdown. Nine people were subsequently detained.
The recent escalation of Israeli settler attacks and violence in the occupied West Bank has sparked strong criticism within the country. Protesters have called for an end to the attacks and an end to the long-standing military rule in the Palestinian territories.
Meanwhile, since October 7, 2023, at least 1,185 Palestinians have been killed in attacks by Israeli forces and illegal settlers in the occupied West Bank. At least 250 of the dead are children. At least 12,652 Palestinians have been injured during this period. In addition, Israeli forces have detained more than 24,000 Palestinians. As of July 1, 2026, 9,299 Palestinians are being held in various Israeli prisons. Of these, 3,244 are being held under the administrative detention law without any formal charges or trial.
In addition, the United Nations and various international human rights organizations have long expressed concern about the lack of accountability for the ongoing violence in the occupied West Bank. There are allegations that judicial action is rarely taken against Israeli settlers involved in attacks on Palestinians. Similarly, Israeli soldiers who are accused are rarely convicted.
