Allegations of murder by feeding pesticides in Barguna, road blockade with body

In Barguna Sadar Upazila, an expatriate has been accused of killing his wife, alleged extramarital lover, daughter and mother-in-law by feeding pesticides. In this incident, locals blocked the road with the body of expatriate Apang Sikder. An angry mob blocked the road in the Chalita area of ​​​​Purkata Highway in Sadar Upazila from the afternoon to 8 pm yesterday, Saturday (July 25).
Although Hasan, the alleged ‘extramarital lover’ involved in the incident, escaped, the deceased Apang’s wife, daughter, mother-in-law and brother-in-law were detained by locals. Later, when the police went to rescue them, the locals surrounded them in a car and detained them for about five hours. The blockaders said that Apang Sikder had been abroad for 17 years. From there, he had sent about 1 crore 3 lakh taka to his wife Rabeya Begum. But his wife could not provide any account of that money.
They also said that the wife of the deceased Apang had been involved in an extramarital affair with her neighbor Hasan for a long time. When Apang came to know about the matter, various disputes arose in the family. There had been a dispute over money and land for some time. Later, on July 15, Hasan and his wife tried to kill Apang by feeding him pesticides. He later died while undergoing treatment at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal.
The blockaders claim that an innocent person has been killed in a planned manner. Therefore, they will not lift the road blockade until the administration assures a fair trial. Nurjahan, the sister of the deceased, said, “My brother’s wife Rabeya and her extramarital lover Hasan brutally beat my brother. Later, when his condition was critical, they poured poison into his mouth. Then they took him to the hospital and staged a drama to save him. I want justice for my brother’s murder and the hanging of the criminals.”
In this regard, Barguna Sadar Police Station OC Abu Shahadat Md. Hachnain Parvez said that Apang Sikder died while undergoing treatment at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal on July 15. Locals blocked roads, formed human chains and protested in the Chalita area of ​​the Barguna-Purkata highway demanding his murder. Later, the situation was brought under control with the coordination of police and local public representatives. He also said that if the relatives of the deceased make any complaint, necessary action will be taken against the culprits after investigation.
