Wife killed in front of children for not paying for drugs
RAB has arrested Sayedul Islam (40), accused of stabbing his wife to death in front of his two children for not paying for drugs in Gazipur’s Sreepur. On Tuesday (July 14), RAB-1 said that the accused was arrested within 24 hours of the incident. The murder took place in the Sreepur Municipality area in the early hours of Monday (July 13).
RAB said that the deceased Nasima Akhter (27) worked in a local garment factory. After receiving her salary, her husband Sayedul demanded Tk 3,000 from her. When she refused to pay for drugs, an argument broke out between them. At one point, Sayedul stabbed his wife indiscriminately. She died on the spot. Their 8-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son were present at the scene at the time.
After the incident, RAB-1 conducted a drive and arrested accused Sayedul Islam within 24 hours. He was handed over to Sreepur Police Station in Gazipur for further legal action. Sreepur Police Station OC Shahinur Alam confirmed the incident and said that the arrested Syedul gave a confessional statement under Section 164 in the court.
