At least 27 dead in Bangkok bar fire
A massive fire broke out at a bar in the Thai capital, Bangkok. At least 27 people have died in the fire. More than 60 people have been injured. The BBC reported that the accident took place at a bar in Bangkok’s Chatuchak area on Monday night (July 13). According to local media reports, nine men and 18 women are among the dead. Some are still missing.
Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after midnight after receiving reports of the fire. At that time, people were trying to run out of the bar to save their lives. A video circulating on social media (formerly Twitter) shows a fire in front of the bar. People are running in panic. Some people were also burned in the fire.
However, firefighters managed to bring the fire under control after half an hour. But in the meantime, the charred bodies of 27 people have been recovered. A passerby first saw the fire and informed the emergency services. He also broke window glass to rescue at least two people. Meanwhile, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said that 27 bodies had been recovered from the scene. The injured were admitted to hospital. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
