Proposal to form Bangladesh-Egypt joint media forum

With a view to further strengthening cooperation in the media sector between Bangladesh and Egypt, Egyptian Ambassador to Bangladesh Omar Mohiuddin Ahmed Fahmy has proposed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the state media of the two countries and the formation of a Bangladesh-Egypt joint media forum. He made this proposal during a courtesy call on Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan at the Information and Broadcasting Minister’s Office at the Secretariat today, Thursday (July 9).
In the meeting, the Information Minister presented the current government’s thinking on media management and various activities taken before the ambassador. He placed special emphasis on the joint initiatives of the two countries to combat misinformation and disinformation in the digital age. At the same time, he commented that ensuring freedom of expression is also very important. The Minister expressed his interest in further strengthening media cooperation between the two countries.
The Egyptian Ambassador highlighted the historical good relations between the two countries and expressed his interest in working closely with the current government to further strengthen this relationship. He also emphasized the importance of increasing direct contact between the people of the two countries to improve relations.
