The US has launched its most devastating attack on Iran since the ceasefire. Immediately after US President Donald Trump’s threat, cities and installations in southeastern Iran were targeted. These include the strategically important cities of Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Konarak, Iranshahr, Shahbahar and Bushehr.
In addition, the US military has also attacked the islands of Abu Musa, Jask and Qeshm in the Persian Gulf. One death has been reported in these attacks so far. Eight explosions have occurred in Bandar Abbas alone. The port of Shahbahar, one of Iran’s commercial centers, has been targeted for the first time. Two jetties and a control tower were damaged. The area was temporarily cut off from power. A firefighter was killed in an attack on Iranshahr airport. A railway bridge in the northeastern Iranian city of Akkal was also attacked.
In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched missile attacks on US bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan. Smoke was seen rising from the US Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain after the attacks. Multiple loud explosions were heard. Al-Azraq airbase in Jordan and Al-Salem airbase in Kuwait were also attacked.
