Health Complex Submerged in Heavy Rain

Chittagong: Continuous heavy rain has submerged low-lying areas of Boalkhali Upazila. This has disrupted public life. The Upazila Health Complex is submerged in water. Due to incessant rain since Tuesday (July 7) morning, the ground floor of the Upazila Health Complex is submerged in knee-deep water.
Water has entered the emergency department, lab and administrative rooms of the hospital. As a result, patients and their guardians who came to the hospital for treatment have suffered. Several areas of West Gomdandi, West Shakpura, Ghoshkhil and Kadhurkhil in the Upazila have been submerged. Residents of several villages have been submerged.
Boalkhali Upazila has been without electricity since the continuous rain started on Monday night. The public is expressing anger over this. Due to the lack of electricity, the activities of offices and shops have also come to a standstill.
Md., a resident of the municipal headquarters, Aziz said, “I am spending my days in a miserable condition. There has been no electricity for two days. I cannot even contact anyone in an emergency as my mobile is not charged. Not only because of the rain, they stop the power supply on some pretext or the other. However, at the end of the month, the customers have to bear the burden of huge bills.”
In the morning, a tree fell at the beginning of Arakan Road, disrupting traffic. Upon receiving the information, a team of Boalkhali Fire Service cut down the tree and normalized traffic. In-charge of Boalkhali Fire Service Station Alok Chakma said that a tree fell in the morning, disrupting traffic on Arakan Road. It has been removed.
Municipal Administrator Kaniz Fatema said that there have been reports of waterlogging in some places in the municipal area. Municipal workers are working to clear the water drainage routes in those areas. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mehedi Hasan Faruk said that no major accident has been reported. So far in the upazila.
