Local government elections to begin in October: Information Advisor

Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Advisor Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman said that the government has planned to start voting for the local government elections from next October. For this, the Election Commission (EC) is preparing a roadmap. The entire process of local government elections will be completed by October next year.
He said this at a weekly briefing at the Secretariat on Tuesday (July 7) on the progress of various government activities. The information advisor said that the Election Commission is already preparing a roadmap in view of the local government elections.
Zahed Ur Rahman said that the July Museum will be inaugurated before August 5. This government is the government of July. Therefore, it is not desirable to tarnish the July coup and the July fighters in any way. Stating that an investigation will be conducted into the cocktail explosion incident at the NCP public meeting in Savar, he said that those involved in it will be arrested and legal action will be taken against them.
The information advisor said, it is very unfortunate to make sarcastic comments about the month of July. However, according to the legal framework, it does not fall under the level of a crime. At this time, regarding the additional electricity bill, Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman said, action will be taken after investigating the complaints of the people regarding the additional electricity bill of June.
Stating that legal action will be taken to prevent unsafe food management, he said, many chemicals are used in food products in the country during the production and storage stage of food, which are harmful to health. It has been decided to create a database by collecting information from the country’s food traders. In addition to making those involved in this business aware, legal action will be taken to prevent unsafe food management.
Regarding food storage, the information advisor said, currently, there is 9 lakh metric tons more food in storage than the government’s target.
