Minister of State for Power and Energy Anindya Islam Amit said that the power department is in crisis due to wrong policies of previous government. He said this at a press conference organized at Bidyut Bhaban today, Monday (July 6).
The Minister of State for Power said, “Our plan is to become self-reliant in power generation, reduce dependence and we are focusing on renewable energy.” He expressed hope that it will be possible to achieve the capacity to generate at least 10,000 megawatts of power from renewable energy before the end of the current government’s term.
The Minister of State for Power said, “Dhaka is more important for various reasons, we cannot deny this. However, we want there to be no disparity between cities and villages. For various reasons, this disparity may not always be possible to eliminate, but we are working hard in this regard.” Meanwhile, the government is reviewing private sector power contracts, in which the interests of the state were not protected.
