Teenage driver dies after trolley overturns
A teenage driver named Minhaj (13) died after losing control of a freight trolley in Fatikchhari. The trolley’s assistant Saim (14) was injured in the incident. The accident occurred at around 7 pm on Friday (July 3) in the area of Kashem Chairman’s house adjacent to Nayahat Bazar in Ward No. 2 of Lelong Union of the upazila.
The deceased Minhaj is the son of Mansur of the area. The injured Saim is the son of Yasin of Darg Ali Talukder’s house in Shahnagar village of the same union. It is learned that Minhaj and Saim left Nayahat Bazar in the evening to go to a wedding ceremony at Kashem Chairman’s house nearby after loading decorative items.
On the way, the trolley lost control and overturned into a ditch on the side of the road. Both the teenagers were injured. When the locals rescued them and took them to Fatikchhari Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared Minhaj dead. The injured Saim was given first aid and sent home. UP member Ruma Akhter confirmed the incident and said that while carrying decorations for a wedding ceremony, the teenage driver lost control of the trolley and fell into a ditch. Fatikchhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) Rafiqul Islam said that after receiving the information, the police went to the spot. Since there was no complaint, the legal process was completed and permission was granted to bury the body.
