The highest corruption occurred during the tenure of the interim government: Home Minister in Parliament
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has commented that the highest corruption occurred during the tenure of the previous interim government. He made this comment in the budget debate in the National Parliament on Sunday (June 28), citing media reports.
The Home Minister said that a few days ago, the TIB published a report that the highest corruption occurred during the tenure of the interim government. He requested Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to direct the Anti-Corruption Commission (AC) to investigate the 18-month corruption of the interim government.
Salahuddin Ahmed said that even if we do not agree on many issues in the interest of the nation, we have to agree on many things. Those who want to sabotage the elections and stay in power for 5 years also have to remember their words. Also, calling the budget people-friendly, he said that this time the prices of no essential goods were increased before or after the budget presentation. The Home Minister expressed the hope that everyone will see the positive impact of the budget within the next 6 months.
Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami MP Shahjahan Chowdhury strongly criticized a statement made by the Home Minister, calling him a ‘mufti of the modern era’. He said that those who are issuing fatwas saying that Jamaat-e-Islami is not an Islamic party should know 100 years of history to know about Jamaat. The Home Minister said – History says that in 1947, Jamaat-e-Islami opposed Pakistan. In 1971, you (aiming at Jamaat-e-Islami) did not even want Bangladesh.
