Teenager dies after being bitten by a cobra while in a mosquito net

A teenager named Md. Sohan Uddin Sohan died after being bitten by a cobra in Lohagara, Chittagong. A cobra entered his room while he was sleeping in his room at around 2 am on Saturday and bit him. He was taken to the Lohagara Upazila Health Complex at around 7 am today (June 28) where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The deceased Md. Sohan Uddin Sohan (16) is the son of Md. Zahir Uddin, a resident of Mallik Chaban Manu Mia Chowdhurypara in Amirbad Union of the upazila. The deceased’s uncle, Jahedul Islam Chowdhury, said that a cobra bit him while Sohan was sleeping in his room at around 2 am yesterday. Later, Sohan killed the snake.
Upon learning of the matter, the family members first took him to a local sorcerer. Later, when his condition deteriorated, he was taken to the Upazila Health Complex around 7 am today and the doctor on duty declared him dead. Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdullah said, “We have received information about the death of a teenager due to wrong treatment for snake bite. Since it is an accidental death, the body has been handed over to the family.”
