Body of a young man with severed hands and legs recovered from the road in Saltha
Police have recovered the body of a young man named Pannu Fakir alias Jamu Fakir (42) with severed hands and legs and serious injury marks on various parts of his body from a road in Kumarkanda village of Jadunandi union in Saltha upazila of Faridpur upazila.
The body was recovered on Thursday (June 25) morning. The deceased Pannu is said to be the son of Rahman Fakir of Kumarkanda village in Saltha. According to police and local sources, Pannu Fakir was involved in a land dispute on Wednesday (June 24) night.
After the dispute, miscreants attacked him on his way home. Initial investigation revealed that he was brutally killed in a jute field by the side of the road. Later, the killers left the body on the road to divert the incident.
Saltha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bablur Rahman Khan said that locals informed the police station after seeing the body of a young man lying on the road with his hands and legs cut off. Later, the body was recovered from the scene and sent to the Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Faridpur Assistant Superintendent of Police (Nagarkanda Circle) Muhammad Al Fahad said that it is initially believed that the body was left on the road after the murder. The deceased young man was returning home after settling a land dispute on Wednesday night. There are serious injury marks on his body. The land dispute behind this murder is being investigated seriously.
He also said that the police have started working to uncover the real reason for the murder and identify those involved. Various information and data are being collected for the sake of the investigation. More details about the cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report.
