Argentina received some great news just before the match against Austria. Yesterday, Sunday (June 21), 26 players took to the field together for the first time in the final training session in Kansas. This was the first time the entire team had trained together since the start of the World Cup preparations.
Until now, some had been training separately due to injuries. First Leandro Paredes, then Nicolás Tagliafico and finally Gonzalo Montiel were separated. However, yesterday they all trained together with the team. The biggest news came from Montiel. The right-back had been training with reduced intensity for a few days due to a strain in his right hamstring. He returned to the field with the team at full strength on Sunday and was fully fit for the team.
The news is also good for Tagliafico. He missed the first match against Algeria due to a torn soleus muscle in his left leg. Tagliafico is now back in normal training. His chances of being on the bench for Monday’s match have increased significantly. He may even be available for a short while. However, the coaching staff does not want to take unnecessary risks, as Facundo Medina played well in the first match.
