Two arrested for beating and electrocuting a youth to death on suspicion of theft

Police have recovered the body of a youth named Joynal (27) from Pologround Railway Public High School under Kotwali police station in Chittagong city. This Sunday (June 21) morning, Kotwali police recovered Joynal’s body from the school premises. Police have arrested two security personnel for their involvement in the incident. The family alleges that the school security personnel beat and electrocuted him all night on Saturday night on suspicion of theft.
This is what led to his death. However, the school authorities have denied the murder charge. According to local residents and family members, Joynal was detained last night when he entered the school on suspicion of being a thief. Then the people in charge beat, punched and electrocuted him.
At one point in this torture that continued all night, he died. Tension prevailed in the area this morning as news of the incident spread. On receiving the information, the Kotwali police station reached the spot and brought the situation under control. However, the school authorities have denied the murder charges. Although no official statement has been made, a responsible school employee said that Joynal was injured by electrocution while stealing at night. They did not know anything about his death in advance. Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Zayed Md. Nazmun Noor said that the body has been sent to the Chittagong Medical College morgue for autopsy. The incident is being investigated seriously. Legal action is being taken. Two school security guards have been arrested for their involvement in the incident.
