The National Parliament has removed the remarks made by BNP MP Khandaker Abu Ashfaq about Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis Amir Mamunul Haque from the minutes. At the same time, a remark made by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed targeting him at that time has also been removed from the minutes. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed spoke on the matter after the budget session began on Sunday (June 21) afternoon.
At that time, he said, ‘Last Thursday, Abu Ashfaq, MP elected from Dhaka, made some remarks about the alleged extramarital affair of Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mamunul Haque, which are inappropriate. Since it is inappropriate to make negative comments about a person who has not had the opportunity to defend himself in Parliament, I have deleted (expunged) Abu Ashfaq’s comments from the minutes.’
The Speaker said, ‘At the same time, I also had a statement where I mentioned a dark chapter in a person’s life. The statement related to that dark chapter has also been deleted (expunged) from the minutes.’ He said, ‘In the future, you will all be aware. I hope that you will not make any negative comments about those who cannot defend themselves by coming here.’
