The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) tried to push 15 people into Bangladesh through the Rokanpur border in Chapainawabganj. However, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) thwarted the attempt.
The BGB said in a press release that at around 4 am today (June 13), members of the Kotalpur camp of the 88th BSF Battalion of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) tried to push 15 people into Bangladesh by boat through the 220 MP International Border Pillar area of the Rokanpur border in Gomostapur upazila. Among them were 2 men, 8 women and 5 children.
The BGB said that at that time the 15 people who were pushed were staying inside India along the zero line of the border. After receiving information about the push attempt, the BGB immediately stopped it. At one point, due to BGB obstruction, BSF took 15 people back to India through the Bhabanipur area adjacent to border pillar 220/MP. Colonel Mohammad Ariful Islam Masum, commander of 16 BGB battalion, confirmed the matter through a press release.
