US-Iran deal ‘very close’: Abbas Araghchi
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said a memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran could be signed in the next few days. He made the comments in an interview with Iranian state television on Friday (June 13).
“The possibility of concluding an agreement with the US has never been so close before,” Araghchi said. “Once the memorandum of understanding is finalized, both sides will sign it digitally from their respective countries. It will be officially announced later.”
Araghchi said the proposed memorandum of understanding includes a ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon. “No nuclear talks will begin until the interim agreement is implemented. After the possible agreement is signed, both sides will pledge not to start a new war.” “Then, the second phase of talks will begin within 60 days with the aim of reaching a final agreement.”
