3 members of a bandit gang arrested in Sundarbans, arms and ammunition recovered

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has arrested three active members of the Sundarbans bandit gang ‘Janab Bahini’ in an operation in Shyamnagar, Satkhira. This information was given by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan on Wednesday (June 10). The arrested bandit members are Azibar Gazi (47), Rabiul Gazi (44) and Faruk Hossain (36). Based on the information given by them at that time, a single-barrel gun and two rounds of bullets were recovered.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan said that under the directives of the current government, two special operations named ‘Operation Restore Peace in Sundarbans’ and ‘Operation Mangrove Shield’ are being conducted under the leadership of the Bangladesh Coast Guard to eliminate all active bandit gangs in the Sundarbans region. In continuation of this, three active members of the notorious robber gang ‘Janab Bahini’ of the Sundarbans have been arrested. Later, based on the information provided by them, a raid was conducted in the Harintana Canal area and arms and ammunition were recovered. The Coast Guard said that the arrested persons have been involved in extorting ransom from fishermen in the Sundarbans for a long time. The process of taking legal action against them is underway. This operation will continue to keep the Sundarbans free from robbers.
