Youth dies after being electrocuted in Jamalpur
A youth named Nipu (35) died while stealing an electric wire in Sarishabari upazila of Jamalpur. The incident took place on Monday (June 8) morning in the village of Barbaria in the upazila. The deceased Nipu is the son of Usman Harun of Barbaria village in Kamrabad union of the upazila. He was the father of two children.
Locals said that he had gone to steal the electric wire of the ST pole of the PDB of an irrigation pump used during the Boro season in Gamara Beel area of Barbaria area at night. At that time, he was electrocuted and died on the spot. Later, after receiving information from the locals, the police reached the spot and recovered the body. Kamrabad Union Parishad Panel Chairman Alamgir Hossain confirmed the truth of the incident.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sarishabari Police Station Md. Abdul Iqbal Hossain said that after receiving information, they went to Kamrabad village of the upazila in the morning and recovered the body. Initially, it is believed that the man died after being electrocuted. It is not yet known for sure whether he went to steal or not. The matter is under investigation. Preparations are underway to send the body to the morgue for autopsy.
