Budget session of Parliament begins
The first budget session of the 13th National Parliament has begun. The session began at 3 pm today (June 7) under the chairmanship of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. It is worth noting that this is the first budget session of the BNP-led government after it came to power through the national elections on February 12.
According to parliamentary sources, Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury is likely to present the national budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 in Parliament on June 11. Earlier, President Md. Shahabuddin had called this session on May 7 under the powers granted under Article 72(1) of the Constitution.
It is worth noting that the first session of the 13th National Parliament ended on April 30. A total of 94 bills were passed in that session in 25 working days.
