Pakistan’s Interior Minister to visit Iran again
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has visited Iran. He arrived in Tehran on Saturday (June 6). There, he will meet top Iranian officials. Pakistan is currently trying to mediate between Iran and the United States.
Naqvi had previously visited Tehran on May 16. Anadolu reported this information in a report by Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency. According to Tasnim, Naqvi will meet with some important officials, including Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Earlier, Pakistani sources told Anadolu that the main purpose of the visit was to discuss some ‘new proposals’ as part of the ongoing diplomatic efforts between Tehran and Washington. The sources also said that Naqvi will present some proposals that could help break the deadlock in the talks between the two sides and establish a temporary agreement between Iran and the United States.
Pakistan has been acting as a mediator between the two countries since the Iran-US conflict began on February 28. A temporary ceasefire, brokered by Pakistan, came into effect on April 8. However, the talks later stalled again due to disagreements over its implementation and changes in the regional situation.
