We want trial for Sheikh Hasina: Home Minister

Expressing hope that the Indian government will send Sheikh Hasina back as per the provisions of the existing extradition treaty between the two countries, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said, we want her trial. He said this in response to a question from journalists at a dialogue organized by the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF) at the Secretariat’s Media Center today, Sunday (May 24).
Syed Abdal Ahmed, Chief Information Officer of the Directorate of Information, was present at the time. The journalists’ question was – Various media are saying that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will come to the country. Discussions are underway regarding her travel pass. Do you have any preparation or information in this regard?
In response, the Home Minister said, I have said this a long time ago. We have sent a letter to the Indian government for her extradition through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a long time ago. We still want her to return from India through legal process as per the provisions of the extradition treaty signed between the two countries. We want her trial. BSRF President Masudul Haque presided over the discussion. General Secretary Ubaidullah Badal moderated the discussion.
