Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman has said that if the DNA report in the rape and murder case of child Ramisa in the capital’s Pallabi is received within 72 hours, a chargesheet will be formed before Eid. He said this at a view-sharing meeting organized at BRAC Center in Mohakhali, the capital, on Saturday (May 23) morning.
The Law Minister said that if a chargesheet is given without DNA, the trial process will be questionable. DNA is a very important piece of evidence in such cases. He also said that it will not take more than 72 hours to get Ramisa’s DNA report. If the chargesheet is given before Eid, the trial can start after Eid. He further commented that this will fulfill the expectations of the people.
The Law Minister said that the court is committed to trying the Ramisa murder case. The government will take all necessary measures to complete the trial of this case as soon as possible. It is worth noting that last Tuesday (May 19), the police recovered the slit-throated body of child Ramisa from a house in Pallabi. In this incident, Sohel Rana, a tenant of the adjacent flat, was charged with murder. Later, the police arrested him from the Fatulla area of Narayanganj. After his arrest, Sohel Rana gave a confessional statement in court. At the same time, his wife Swapna Akhter was also arrested.
