Jamaat announces candidates for local government elections in Gazipur

On the occasion of the local government elections, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, District Branch has announced the names of party candidates for various upazilas and union parishads of Gazipur district. The names of the candidates were announced at a program at the Gazipur District Jamaat office on Saturday (May 16) evening.
The program was chaired by District Secretary Md. Shafiuddin and moderated by District Jamaat Assistant Secretary Md. Mostafizur Rahman. The program was addressed by District Senior Nayeb-e-Amir Abdul Hakim, District Chhatra Shibir President Md. Ismail Pathan, District Tarbiyat Secretary Mahmudullah, District Working Committee member Mukhlesur Rahman Khan and Amir Secretaries of various upazilas.
According to the announced list, candidates have been announced for the post of chairman in four out of the five upazilas of the district. Mohammadullah from Gazipur Sadar Upazila, Principal Mustafizur Rahman Khan from Sreepur Upazila, Sefaul Haque from Kapasia Upazila and Advocate Tajul Islam from Kaliganj Upazila have been nominated for the post of Chairman.
In addition, Professor Abdul Bari from Gazipur Sadar, Lecturer Abul Kalam Azad from Sreepur, Advocate Amjad Hossain from Kaliakair, Maulana Farhad Hossain Molla from Kapasia and Advocate Lutfur Rahman from Kaliganj have been nominated for the post of Male Vice Chairman.
On the other hand, the names of the chairman candidates have been announced in 26 out of 39 unions in Gazipur district in the Union Parishad elections. Among them, Afsar Uddin in Madhyapara Union of Kaliakair Upazila, Belal Hossain Sarkar in Mouchak Union, Advocate Taufiqul Hossain in Ataba Union, Yunus Master in Fulbaria Union and Zahid Hossain Molla in Boali Union have been declared candidates.
Kamruzzaman Mondal has been nominated in Pirujali Union of Gazipur Sadar Upazila, Advocate Mustafizur Rahman Kamal in Bariya Union, Mofazzal Hossain in Bhawal Garh Union and Dr. Ali Akbar in Mirzapur Union. Ali Hossain in Prahaladpur Union of Sreepur Upazila, Advocate Shahjahan Siraji in Kawraid Union, Moniruzzaman in Gazipur Union and Abdul Baten Molla in Maona Union have been nominated.
Shamsul Alam in Kapasia Union of Kapasia Upazila, Abdul Fattah in Durgapur Union, SM Solaiman in Chandpur Union, Akhtar Hossain in Tok Union, Tarek Hasan in Barishab Union, Tofazzal Hossain in Sanmania Union, Jalal Uddin Morol in Karihata Union and Abu Sayeed in Targaon Union have been nominated.
Advocate Abdul Baset Molla has been declared as the candidate in Baktarpur Union of Kaliganj Upazila, Hafiz Selim in Jangalia Union and Aminul Islam Palawan in Moktarpur Union. Speakers at the event said that Jamaat-e-Islami is participating in the local government elections with the aim of establishing honest, competent and people-friendly leadership. It was also hoped that the party’s candidates will work to fulfill the expectations of the people.
