More than 300 cases were filed last week for violation of traffic laws under AI cameras. If this system is fully implemented, there will be more than 1,000 cases per day, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md. Sarwar. He gave this information after inaugurating the traffic signal light on Airport Road in Uttara, the capital, on Monday (May 11) afternoon.
The DMP Commissioner said that such an initiative has been taken to modernize Dhaka city. A digital case will be filed if any vehicle crosses the crossing or goes into the opposite lane. The person against whom the case will be filed will be able to see his crime on video. Md. Sarwar said that such steps have been taken not to punish, but to restore order on the roads. For now, traffic signal lights have been installed at eight points in the capital. He also said that this system will be introduced at about 30 points.
